high school senior photo
Is it any surprise that fall is our favorite time of year?
And then there's Rachel – and that smile. Gorgeous.

If you've noticed a recent decrease in our posts, it's because we've been doing a lot of sharing on Instagram of late. We shared this image, one of our favorites of the year, of Rachel a few weeks ago. Check it out on our IG feed, and get caught up there on the other photos we've been working on, too! a piece of heaven. in hermann.

Drive 52 miles southwest of Lake St. Louis and you'll stumble across the sleepy, romantic, historic town of Hermann. It's considered by many to be Missouri's most beautiful town, and it's an undeniably popular weekend hideaway. And for a lengthy list of couples, it's far more than that. Atop the bluffs, overlooking the Missouri River, you'll find the aptly named Hermann Hill B&B, Cottages and Wedding Chapel. It's a little piece of heaven. In Hermann.

If you live in the St. Louis area, you were probably witness to a massive storm that blew through a few weeks ago. It was March 4, and we remember it well. The lightning. The rain. The thunder. The flash-flooding and the hail. Not-so-perfect timing for area wedding planners who scrambled to move everything indoors to safety that evening. We heard from the friendly staff at Hermann Hill that a wedding was actually in progress at the height of the storm (yikes!)... However, by dawn, the storm had blown through (leaving, nevertheless, a remarkable impression on downtown Hermann). An impeccable setting and a breathtaking vista had drastically changed come Saturday morning, giving way to downed tree branches, scattered leaves and misty gray skies. Not exactly storybook, but far from devastating. The chapel doors still opened. Eager guests still shuffled in. The big day still went forward ...

... It's funny. As dramatic as the storm and its aftermath were, its fury and effect will soon be forgotten (if not already). But March 5 will be a day Rachel, David and their four beautiful children will remember for a long, long time to come.

And so will we.

Colby Rasmus, The Arch and lots of color

It's been an interesting week in St. Louis, with the Cardinals suffering down the stretch and the media stirring up dirt between second-year centerfielder Colby Rasmus and club management... (Good ol' sports reporters.) That being said, just wanted to share, visually, what we've been working on recently. Love the blue sky at the Arch in Downtown St. Louis (but wish it wasn't so busy that morning on the steps!!!) and the vibrant red at Busch Stadium (shot on the field, thanks to Creve Coeur Camera Day at the Ballpark).

meet me ... in forest park

Becca's out of town -- Florida this time -- so it's my turn to post... It's been a busy few weeks with all our travels and what not; nevertheless, we squeezed this couple-hour shoot in of Rachel early this week at Forest Park and in the Delmar Loop. The shoot was a lot of fun, mosquitoes and all, and we definitely look forward to photographing Rachel again sometime down the road.

The majority of the photos here were shot with a fast 1.4 lens using a variety of lighting, while others were taken using the 17-70 Sigma. Look for these and more in the coming days at our Photoworkshop site.
