sisterly love

Fall family photo
We absolutely love this photo for its colors and the love and humorous interaction between the Brown sisters.
This photo was made around 10:15 in the morning in late September. { 100mm, f/3.2, 1/160 }

happy accidents

Family Photo
Ahhh, posing. Good when it's good. Bad when it's bad (ahem, see Awkward Family Photos). And then there are those awesome accidents that come about when you're just out having fun. Like these guys. We love this shot!
About the photo: 50mm, f/4, 1/160, ISO 250. No flash.

tierra's mini-session

Photo sessions. Sometimes you need just a handful of shots -- 10-12 images for Facebook, family and friends -- and a 45-minute mini-session achieves just that. Take Tierra, for example, who just wanted to experience a professional photo session for her Sweet 16 (Happy birthday, Tierra!).

Like for her 16th birthday, practically every image we create is in celebration of some milestone... a newborn baby, a high school senior, a first-ever family photo. It's always cool to take a step back and remember that the photos we make are not only important now but also fun, valuable pieces of history 10, 50, or even 100 years from now.

Lenses used: 50mm f/1.8; 17-40mm f/4

we're headed west ... out until 2012

Photobucket
The last shoot of 2011 ... Looking good, Lewis Fam. It's been a pretty good year.
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.

Relax. It's just life.

"Life is far too important a thing ever to talk seriously about." ~Oscar Wilde

But you don't have to tell that to the Williams kiddos. What a fun-loving fam!
And an extra-special thanks to our good friend, Marlie Hoyt, who shot the beautiful family photo on the right. Love the curve of the hill and the way the sun is just itching to get in the shot!

No words.

Starting with the Miyasaki clan, whose pix we shot at Quail Ridge Park last night, we've got quite a few posts coming -- and soon (despite our recent hiatus!) ... Here's a quick sneak peek at some of the images taken just before dusk at our favorite park in town.

Variety of lenses, variety of cameras, variety of ISO settings, variety of lighting arrangements...

hello, hoyt

This is irrelevant to the post, but it's Tuesday: release day for new music. And what's new on shelves and iTunes today? Hello Hurricane by Switchfoot. Just thought I'd share, since today's photo of the day headline reminded me of it.

Here are the latest, all shot with our Canon 50mm, at varying apertures of course.

r is for remund, g is for good weather

We headed out to the park with the Remund family last night and got a bit lucky, since the forecast all day had been sketchy at best. That being the case, and seeing as how the rain ultimately held out, we ended up with some cool looking grey-blue skies and clean, even available light for an hour and a half. Way better than sun with a solid blue, clear sky.

Not much else to say; it's early, I've got to head in to work... All 10 shots, though, are from the new 5D and 17-40 Canon L. A great 1-2 punch.

one last thing before you go...

Before the Mattei family sends their son (yup, the one in the suit) away for a two-year proselyting mission for the LDS Church ... Pictures. 262 of them. We avoided heavy downpours and endured gusty winds last evening at the park and came away with some good stuff despite the odds. And since there's not a lot of time left between right now and when Greg ships off to Boise, it's good thing the weather held out. Whew.

chrisse

It's nearly impossible to shoot outside in the summertime in St. Louis. It's practically impossible to do just about anything outside in the summertime in St. Louis. Except this summer. Yesterday, we had a high of 80, and today shouldn't be much different -- not bad for the middle of July! And while it was a little warmer the day we took these pictures of Chrisse at the QRP, it wasn't bad. Whew. This year, I love STL summers... and these pictures.

(textured) photo of the day

With the excellent fall weather yesterday, it's a shame Bec n' I didn't have more than one quick shoot in Wentzville. The way things go here in the STL, we'll have highs in the 40s all next week and all the leaves will be gone. Regardless... Here's one of Becca's shots, texture added in Lightroom and Photoshop.
